Meet our 2023 Academic Achievement Scholarship Recipients:
- Chauncey Taylor
- Easton, Pennsylvania
- Lehigh Valley Academy ’25
My name is Chauncey Taylor and I aspire to be a Pathologist. I have a 4.3 GPA and am very active in the Greater Shiloh Church 228 Youth Ministry. I also have served as a PA orator and enjoy music and spoken word.
My mother was an ER nurse and would come home in blue scrubs every evening. Nine-year-old me would try to hug her but she would refuse and say she was dirty, even though her clothes looked clean. When I was 13, school shut down because of the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic and I knew what the underlying cause was- pathogens. From Salmonella bacteria strains preventing you from eating raw chicken and eggs, to the Yersinia Pestis strains, responsible for the deaths of twenty-five million; from the Rhinoviruses that cause the common cold to the Lyssavirus that causes rabies; from the brain-eating Naegleria Fowleri parasite to the malaria-causing Plasmodium parasite, these pathogens find ways to replicate and all of this fascinates me, which is why I am striving to become a pathologist after graduation. I want to be one of the researchers that helps to stop the next major pandemic-before it even starts!
Help us congratulate him on being accepted into this prestigious program!
- Aliciana Harvey-Lopez
- Sarasota, Florida
- Pineview School ’24
My name is Aliciana Harvey-Lopez, and I am a 17-year-old senior at Pine
View School. I have 4.5 GPA with a passion for psychology and cognitive science.
As a student who has been planning my academic career since the sixth grade, I am committed to achieving my goal of attending an Ivy League university. I have always been fascinated by the human mind and behavior. Studying psychology and cognitive science is the perfect way to
deepen my understanding of these complex topics. What drives human behavior, the chemical reactions in the brain, and how we make decisions
and turn them into actions are all aspects of psychology that I find fascinating I am particularly intrigued by peer interactions and environmental factors’ role in shaping our behavior and decision-making. A deep understanding of these factors is essential for shaping the future of our society.
Help us congratulate her on her acceptance to this prestigious program!
- Amari Lopez
- Sarasota, Florida
- Sarasota Military Academy ’25
I am Amari Lopez, a junior cadet at the Sarasota Military Academy with a 3.8 GPA, and I am an aspiring Anesthesiologist.
With a natural inclination towards science and mathematics, I have taken various math courses as part of my sophomore year electives. My passion for the medical field has only grown with time.
I was thrilled at the prospect of collaborating with like-minded individuals who share my passion for science and medicine. This program provided a unique opportunity or me to learn alongside other motivated students and broaden my horizons through stimulating discussions and thought-provoking debates.
